Course Description:

The Microsoft® Business Solutions–Solomon® Work Order class explores all aspects of the Work Order module from the initial setup of Work Orders, to tracking inventory quantities needed to build finished goods and the tight integration to other Solomon modules, such as Inventory, Bill of Material, Project and Order Management.

The student learns how to track and monitor their on-hand and available inventory levels on a specific date so you can view the Work Order plans and actions that are responsible for those levels. They are shown how to gain accurate, timely access to work-in-process while production is under way and how to take corrective action on a work order with impending cost overruns. They also are show you how to access production cost information which is fully integrated with Microsoft Solomon General Ledger for an accurate accounting of Work Order costs.

The student learns how to view details of your inventory quantities and costs with a single click, accessing all plan and action details for work orders, sales orders, and purchase orders – including inventory position by site, cost layers, and transaction detail.

They are also shown how to collect production costs for all levels on a single work order, or create a work order to build each subassembly, and then roll up the costs to the next level. The student learns about processing where economies of scale dictate that a work order produce more than a parent assembly requires, the excess of which may be placed into stock, or on another work order
