Main Topics

  • Methods of integrating data
  • Description and comparison of tools

After completing this chapter, students will be able to:

  • Explain the different methods used to enter data into Microsoft Dynamics GP.
  • Review each of the different tools available to assist users in importing records into Microsoft Dynamics GP.

Chapter 2: Import Utility

This chapter focuses on Import Utility. We will examine the features and benefits of using Import Utility to import data into Microsoft Dynamics GP. We will review the basic steps in creating a table import. There is also a section on resources that can be used to determine what information needs to be imported and how to determine field structures. We will then define and perform an import.

Main Topics

  • Features and benefits
  • Steps involved in creating an import
  • Field structures
  • Define and run an import

Lab

  • Import Utility

After completing this chapter, students will be able to:

  • Recognize the available resources that can be used to assist the user in setting up an import.
  • Create an import definition.

Chapter 3: Integration Manager Overview

The purpose of this chapter is to identify the features and benefits of Integration Manager. We will go over the Integration Manager installation as well.

Main Topics

  • Feature and benefits
  • Installation

After completing this chapter, students will be able to:

  • Identify the features and benefits of Integration Manager.
  • Install Integration Manager.
  • Launch and register Integration Manager.

Chapter 4: Great Plains Standard Adapter

In this chapter we will discuss the most commonly used destination adapter in Integration Manager: the Great Plains Standard Adapter. We will define the steps in creating a basic integration. The available destinations will be listed as well.

Main Topics

  • Great Plains Standard Adapter introduction
  • Steps to create an integration
  • Available Destinations

Labs

  • GL Accounts Integration
  • GL Transaction Integration
  • GL Integration using One Source File
  • Customer and RM Transaction Integration

After completing this chapter, students will be able to:

  • Define a Business Object.
  • Create the Integration.
  • Define the Source.
  • Set up row and sorting options.
  • Define source relationships.
  • Select the Destination.
  • Create the destination mapping.
  • Check the integration log for errors.
  • Set up integration groups.

These labs focus on creating an integration for GL Accounts, creating an integration for GL Transactions, creating an integration for GL Transactions that uses one source file. There is also a lab focusing on creating two integrations: a customer integration and receivables transaction integration. An integration group will then be created to run the integrations together.

After completing the Labs, students will be able to:

  • Successfully create and run an integration for GL Accounts.
  • Successfully create and run an integration for GL Transactions.
  • Successfully create and run an integration for GL Transactions that uses one source file.
  • Successfully create a Customer Integration.
  • Successfully create a Receivables Transaction Integration.
  • Create and run an integration group.

Chapter 5: Advanced Integration Topics
